So, what exactly is tele-health?

If you have the ability to get on the internet and have access to a device such as a smart phone, tablet, or computer, you can access therapy services right from the comfort of your home (or car or office). Tele-health appointments are safe, secure, HIPAA-compliant ways to see your therapist when you can’t conveniently get to an office. You may not be able to take off from work, so a lunchtime appointment would be ideal right from your car or private office. You may not be able to get a babysitter, in which case putting the kids down for a nap and settling down on your couch works for you. I have found that tele-health sessions also work great for busy teens who have academic and after school activities to attend.

I use a HIPAA friendly platform called Doxy to send you a secure email link which you will use to connect. It’s easy and convenient and protected. Most people who are skeptical will try it and end up really liking the ease and flexibility. It’s similar to a FaceTime or Skype video call but it is secure and HIPAA compliant.
